Businesses who are able to show how the business and its employees have developed a clear understanding of the
products or services, competitors and marketplace in which they operate and who have developed a clear long-term
business strategy.
Assessment Criteria
• Before starting your business, what research did you do? (e.g. your market/potential market, funding, staff,
information and advisors available to you, etc.)
• How do you make sure that you continue to offer what your customers/clients want?
• How do you set and monitor your business goals?
• What are your views on training and staff development and if applicable, how do you implement any such
programmes?
• How do you stay in touch with changing legislation and what procedures, if any, do you have in place? (e.g.
employment law, health and safety, etc.)
• What do you feel your business has achieved over and above your business plan?
• How do you plan to grow your business?
